Greetings! We hope you are enjoying the cooler weather and changing leaves that fall is bringing us. As much as we love summer, we’re incredibly excited about this fall in particular because construction on Romeo’s new stable is about to get underway!

After months of fundraising and planning, we’re excited to announce that the materials that builders will use to construct the shelter were just delivered to the Rivers Edge Horse Rescue & Sanctuary! Thanks to your support, over $7,000 worth of lumber was purchased for this project. Members of the Rodgers Foundation team, with the help of one feisty goat, oversaw delivery and helped cover the lumber with tarps as we await the next phase.

Over the coming weeks, several key steps will be taken to prepare the site for construction. First, workers must relocate an existing shelter to another area of the farm. Then, a concrete slab will be laid in its place, upon which the new shelter will be built. While all of this is taking place, extra care and consideration must be taken to ensure that Romeo, who is blind, remains as comfortable as possible. We’re confident that any disturbances, however minor, will be worth it once he’s living happily and comfortably in his new home!

We can not thank all of our supporters enough for helping The Rodgers Foundation make this inaugural project happen. If you appreciated this update, good news! We’ll be posting more as work on Romeo’s new stable continues over the coming weeks. In the meantime, please take a minute to review your experience with us on Greatnonprofits.org.

As always, we appreciate your support of The Rodgers Foundation!
